Good ideas should be spread and shared,
I believe. Therefore I took over a good idea I got from the
movie The Secret. It is about bringing about
a positive change in one's life by a positive shift of focus.
In the film, a man tells his story of how
once, following an impulse, he put a regular stone into his
jacket's pocket. Since at that time things were not going
too well for his family, he has been working on himself in
order to bring about a positive change. Part of it was that
every day he would express gratitude for all the wonderful
things in his life. For every little thing: the birds singing
in the morning, the smile on his daughter's face, or the fact
that he was given another magnificent present – another
day!
Now that he took the stone, each time he
would touch it, he remembered to say „thanks“.
One day, the stone fell out of his jacket's pocket in front
of a visitor. As he took it back, the visitor wanted to know
what kind of stone it was. So he explained that it was a stone
that reminded him to be grateful. The visitor thoughtfully
replied: Hm, a thankful stone!
Several weeks after that, the man got an
e-mail from the visitor. He wrote to him: „My son is
seriously ill and I need 3 thankful stones!“ Of course,
the man sent him three particularly nice stones. The story
goes on: In 5 months he got another e-mail. The man whose
son was ill wrote to him: I am so happy, my son is getting
much better, and I was so thankful that I collected „thankful
stones“ myself and sold them. I sold around 1000 stones
at 10 dollars each, and I donated it to charitable organisations.
